On Monday, June 3rd, Eastern Ukrainian Centre for Civic Initiatives with its partner organizations from the Coalition “Justice for Peace in Donbas” presented the touring exhibition on human rights violations in eastern Ukraine “Na Zlami / On the Rift” at “Zoloti Vorota” museum.

On the 30th of May female survivors of the armed conflict together with the representatives of component public authorities discussed how to restore justice in the situations when people were detained, undergone violence or their other rights were violated.

Today, on 20th December presentation of analytics report titled “War without Rules: Gender-Based Violence in the Context of the Armed Conflict in Eastern Ukraine” took place at Siverskyi Donets Crisis Media Centre.

On Friday, 1st December the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre held presentation event of analytics report titled “War without Rules: Gender-Based Violence in the Context of the Armed Conflict in Eastern Ukraine”. During the presentation, the authors of the report revealed that there are over twenty places of illegal detention on the temporarily occupied territory. People who happened to be detained systematically and purposefully went through gender, namely sexual, violence.

The Macedonian capital of Skopje was the third destination on a study trip for Coalition members, following our visit to Sarajevo and Belgrade. In Skopje we were received by activists from Peace Action, Albulena Karaga and Boro Kitanoski, who travelled to the city from nearby Prilep especially for the occasion. From them, the Ukrainian human rights activists heard how to work with oral history in order to contribute to peace after an armed conflict.

Peace work in Donbas should start already now, even though the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine is not yet over. The work of human rights activists is not done once the war is formally settled. Quite to the contrary, from this moment on, active work towards a reunification of society just begins. These are the conclusions reached by representatives of the Coalition “Justice for Peace in Donbas”, who took part in a study trip to the Western Balkans.

The launch of graphic novel consisting of short stories titled ‘The Crossroads: 9 Stories About the War and Violence’ took place on Monday, 23rd October in Kiev. Project coordinators, community leaders and artists who contributed to the creation of the graphic novel, as well as stakeholders took part in the event.
